Biography

Vince grew up in a small town in Northern California but now lives in Los Angeles. He studied graphic design and film at CCA in San Francisco. After school Vince worked across various visual mediums, including film, documentary and print. He went on to creative direct Juxtapoz Art Magazine which thre w him directly into the explosive graffiti and skateboard scene of San Francisco. He worked for Words & Pictures at the Cranbrook Art Academy, contributing to projects such as the title sequence design for Fight Club. This began his transition from design to film.

In 2004, Vince received a Emmy nomination for designing and directing the main title sequence for Nip/Tuck. He has since directed dozens of music videos, commercials, and several short films. The videos have garnered numerous awards, from video of the year, best direction, and most recently winning a 2012 MTV VMA for best EDM video for Calvin Harris “Feel So Close”.

His music videos have been a place to experiment, fueling his voice. The last couple years his work has focused on intimate stories of youth culture, finding that hazy purgatory between the real and the imagined. He likes creating worlds that are authentic and honest and then slightly subverting them, exploring the border between fiction & non-fiction.

He recently directed a video for Spiritualized “Little Girl” and Calvin Harris feat Florence Welch “Sweet Nothing,” which was just selected for the VEVO Peoples Choice “Video of the Year” award and Florence and the Machine “Lover to Lover” featuring Ben Mendelshon. In late November a retrospective of his work will coincide with the record release of Calvin Harris’s 18 MONTHS, exhibiting 20 photographs & 5 music videos. The show will be curated by Guy Hepner galleries and tour around the world.
